Summer Hair Trends: Return of the 90s

Have you guys heard that teenagers are looking at the 90s the way we used to look at the 60s? That’s right, it’s been 30 years since the 90s, and all the trends are back! There is a whole generation of youngsters (haha) who think skorts, claw clips, and platform shoes are new discoveries!

The good news is, the 90s hair trends are super easy to accomplish for anyone! Here are a few of my favorites with some of my go-to tutorial videos!

Claw Clips

You guys know I’m loving the return of butterfly clips, but I couldn’t help but order some new matte claw clips! This is the easiest style to achieve. I like to keep mine looser and more care-free by pulling at my hair a little once the clip is secured.

Butterfly Clips

Lizzie McGuire would be so proud! This is probably the trend I’m most surprised to see back, but with my love for butterflies, you know I’m here for it! I do prefer my butterfly clips in gold rather than rainbow hues though!

Small Braids

Adding a small braid to any style is suddenly super chic! Make two little braids to frame your face or one small small braid to accent your claw clip style! All you need are some tiny clear elastics!

Buns Hun

Sorry, couldn’t resist singing that song in my head! Buns are back, especially pigtail style buns! You can do low pigtail buns on their own or use buns to finish off cute pigtail French braids. I’m also loving the low slicked back bun for a chic, easy look.

Bonus Trend: Neon Everything

This one might be my favorite to play with! Neon bike shorts, neon manicures, neon tees — I’m here for it! It makes me want to put on my roller-skates and hit the park!

Tell me in the comments — which 90s trends are you happy to see back? And even more fun . . . which ones do you hope NEVER return? I think we can all agree that it’s low-rise jeans. HAHA!
