Four Things Your Stylist Wishes They Could Tell You
It’s time to get REAL, friends! I’m going to tell you three things that your stylist wishes they could tell you! And you guys know me — I’m never here to lecture you or make you feel bad! We ALL do things that are probably frustrating for the people who are providing a product for service for us. I know I’m guilty of a few of these in other areas myself! I just want to help other stylists like me get the respect and admiration that they deserve.
So, without further ado, here are four things your stylist wishes they could tell you. Are you guilty of any of these??
Being on Time is Everything
Trust me, I understand that things happen and your day doesn’t always go as planned. But please don’t show up late to your appointment with a Starbucks in your hand! That’s a dead giveaway, right? That used to happen me a lot in my earlier days behind the chair, and it was such a punch in the gut!
If you are running late, giving your stylist a heads up is more respectful than waltzing in without saying anything at all. If I’m being honest (as I always am!), showing up late is actually pretty insulting, and being late without any notice is even worse. It basically says, “I don’t respect you or your time.” Please respect your stylist’s time because I know we all do our best to respect yours!
Tell Your Friends
There’s no better way to love your stylist than to brag about your hair! Take selfies and tag me, share with your friends, show your mom . . . it all makes me so proud! Plus, I want to share your posts, too! Word of mouth is crucial for a growing a successful, and it’s FREE!
Jeff Bezos Doesn’t Need Your Money
Please don’t give Amazon your money for professional products! If you are out of product or need something new, I will happily get it for you. I promise we don’t mark up products more than they should be for responsible retail. Plus, who knows what your hair needs better than your stylist? Like my friends at Harper Ellis always say, “You trust your doctor to prescribe medication, so why not trust your stylist to prescribe products?”
Rescheduling isn’t Always Simple
We all know that cancelling at the last minute or even worse, not showing up and not calling at all, is the WORST! You’re basically taking money from your stylist at that point! But again, we all understand that things happen. If for any reason you do need to cancel your appointment, please be patient with rescheduling. Extensions and color services take a lot of time so finding a gap with 3-4 hours in my schedule is very hard to do!
Trust that your stylist is doing their best to accommodate you because at the end of the day, we want you to love your hair and brag about it!
Again, please know that I say this all with love and of course, I’m not talking about any of my sweet clients! I’m so blessed to work with some incredible people, but I do know that a lot of my stylist friends aren’t always so lucky! Just remember to be a good human, and always take your stylist and their time into consideration!
